Here are just a few more prayerful resources which those "in the trade" might find useful, either for anything liturgical in relation to "Comic Relief", or for the Sunday after Easter, the day which honours The Christ who laughed in the face of death.
Jester / Quester God – Nicola Slee
Jester God, clown your disruptive presence
into the comedy of my days:
its leapings and its tumblings,
its foolishness and its wisdom,
its banality and its solemnity,
that the humour of my life
may reverberate with your healing hilarity
and renewing vivacity.
Quester God, chase your inquisitive presence
through the journey of my days;
its resting and its travellings,
its leavings and its arrivings,
its adventuring and its homecomings,
that the pilgrimage of my life
may unfold your trustworthy faithfulness
and life-giving companionship.
THE CREED (First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Conroe,
We believe in God,
who made us in His image.
We live, we love, we laugh,
because we are like Him.
We believe in Jesus Christ,
the Son of God, our Lord and Saviour.
He had the last laugh on evil
when He rose from the dead.
We believe in the Holy Spirit,
co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Son.
Our counsellor, our guide, our motivator –
He is our joy!
THE INTERCESSION (posted by Sue on the RevGalBlogPals blog; edited by PHNC)
God of grace, God of love and laughter, we thank you that we are so wondrously created, made for relationship with you and with one another. We thank you for laughter with friends and loved ones. We thank you for the laughter of children, and the song it creates in our hearts.
By your great unending love, you inspire in us a spirit of imagination and creativity. Help us to use that spirit playfully, to create beauty in every way possible. Remind us to laugh, even when we are in pain, for in so doing some of the wounds within us can find healing.
God, we pray for those who cannot find laughter in their today. Those who are grieving, or suffering illness of body, mind or spirit...the lonely, and those in need of someone to share their time and friendship.
May these and the troubles of all your people be soothed, blessed, and comforted by your holy presence. May each find the laughter within us that sets our spirits free, and in that freedom, may we take your love into every part of ours’ and others’ lives. These and all the prayers of our hearts we offer now in the name of Jesus, who became foolish for our sake, that the world may live in accordance of God’s wisdom.
THE BLESSING:
May the God of surprises
bring smiles and joys
to the everyday and ordinary.
May the God of love be seen
in all you do and say.
May you know nothing but happiness from this day forward.
May the Three-in-One God
be with you and bless you,
now and for evermore. Amen.
DISMISSAL
Go in laughter; go in peace.
Keep the Lord in your heart
and a smile on your face.
All: Thanks be to God.
